The MapBiomas Award visa estimular e ampliar aplicações e trabalhos que utilizem dados de qualquer produto, módulo ou iniciativa MapBiomas presente nos 14 países da rede, reforçando a importância de soluções que respondam aos desafios ambientais.

The award is open to students, researchers, professors, consultants, NGOs, private sector professionals, and public managers. A wide range of work can be submitted: studies, articles, dissertations, reports, and other initiatives that demonstrate the qualified use of MapBiomas data.

VENCEDORES DA 8ª EDIÇÃO DO PRÊMIO MAPBIOMAS

Os vencedores da 8ª edição do Prêmio MapBiomas foram anunciados no dia 7 de julho, durante o 2º MapBiomas User Summit, evento realizado no Insper, em São Paulo, que reuniu a comunidade de usuários dos dados MapBiomas. A edição deste ano premiou dez trabalhos e também concedeu menção honrosa a quatro outros projetos.

Nesta edição foram 338 trabalhos concorrentes, nas categorias Geral, Jovem, Aplicações em Escolas, Aplicações em Negócios, Aplicações em Políticas Públicas, Combate ao Desmatamento, Emergências Climáticas e na nova categoria do ano: Comunidades e Povos Tradicionais.

O 8º Prêmio MapBiomas distribuiu, no total, R$100 mil reais. Cada ganhador recebeu, ainda, uma assinatura anual da revista Ciência Hoje digital, além de uma bolsa para realização de um curso de geoprocessamento de imagens de satélites usando o Google Earth Engine, promovido pela Solved, e a produção de um vídeo curto sobre o seu trabalho, que poderá ser acessado no YouTube da rede MapBiomas em breve.
