Método do Módulo Atmosfera

The collection 1 (BETA) of the Atmosphere Module provides a historical analysis of atmospheric conditions in Brazil between 1985 and 2024. The Atmosphere module aggregates information from different sources, including atmospheric model data and satellite data. Here we present a summary of the method used in the development of MapBiomas Atmosphere. For more information, access the ATBD (Algorithm Theory Base Document) at this LINK.

The methodological workflow consisted of: (i) resampling data from different sources to a common spatial grid; (ii) calculation of derived atmospheric variables; (iii) data validation against independent observations at surface. Spatiotemporal series of atmospheric data from different sources were resampled to a reference spatial grid, with a spatial resolution of 0.1 degrees (approximately 10 km) and monthly temporal resolution. From the resampled temperature and precipitation data, derived variables, such as anomalies and the number of days without rain, were calculated (Figure 1).

The collection 1 (BETA) of the Atmosphere module consists of 14 variables, distributed into 3 groups: Temperature, Precipitation and Water, and Air Quality. The table below lists the 14 variables included in Collection 1.
