The event, which will take place on July 7th and 8th, aims to promote connection and collaboration among those who use the platform's data

The data on land cover and land use in Brazil, along with other information made openly and freely available by the MapBiomas platform, are used in a wide variety of ways and applications by researchers, teachers, companies, schools, and governments.

To strengthen the user community and encourage the exchange of ideas and collaboration, the network will host the first MapBiomas User Summit. The event will take place on July 7th and 8th at Insper, in São Paulo. It will be an opportunity to discuss needs, expand possibilities, and share experiences, as well as to interact with members of the MapBiomas network.

Currently, the network has expanded to 13 other countries. It also produces additional products beyond the historical land cover and land use data from 1985 to the present, such as MapBiomas Alert, Water, Fire, and Soil, among other themes. Today, the platform is the most complete, up-to-date, and detailed spatial land use database for a country available in the world.

The two-day program will feature inspiring presentations on major current topics such as the climate emergency and new frontiers in artificial intelligence and remote sensing. It will also include parallel sessions on topics related to the applications and use of MapBiomas data, with the participation of experts and representatives from civil society organizations, companies, financial institutions, academia, and government agencies.

The event will also include the award ceremony for the winners of the 7th Edition of the MapBiomas Award, in the following categories: General, Youth, Outstanding Applications for Public Policies, Outstanding Applications in Business, Outstanding Applications in Schools, Special Category for Actions to Combat Deforestation, and Special Category for Climate Emergency.
