MapBiomas' annual maps are organized into collections. With each new collection, the historical series is updated and revised and changes may occur in the mapped classes and/or improvements in classification compared to the previous version.
The most recent MapBiomas collections and their geotiff format maps can be accessed and downloaded in four ways:
MapBiomas Collection data can be accessed in four ways:
1. MapBiomas Platform
✓It is now possible to download the current maps and data collections directly from plataforma MapBiomas, in “Create analysis.” See guidelines on how to download the maps and statistics via platform
2. Toolkit | Google Earth Engine
✓In this option, it is possible to download data from previous MapBiomas collections by state, biome, municipality or any other territory of interest—by inserting/uploading a vector file (shapefile) with the geometry of interest. This tool has the advantage of exporting both the map and the area statistics for the selected geometries and periods.

Coastal reefs are rigid structures along the Brazilian coastline that include both biogenic reefs and sandstone reefs. The slow formation of these structures produces a relatively constant extension between 1985 and 2024. Thus, the classification is the result of the aggregation of coastal reef areas detected during this period.
